Nottingham Road Cemetery, Derby

The Perimeter wall of Nottingham Road Cemetery had begun to lean inwards quite dramatically along three of it's sections. It needed to be taken down and rebuilt in line with the sections above and below.

Firstly the heavy coping stones were removed with the aid of a gantry and chain block. Some of these stones weighed in excess of 200kg!

The wall itself was the sympathetically taken down with each stone carefully numbered so that it could be returned to it's rightful place in the wall.

All the rubble infil was placed to one side for re-use. Once down to the original foundation stones ( five double skin courses) a new damp proof course was installed and the wall rebuilt with a hydraulic lime mortar.

Finally the coping stones were placed to complete the rebuild.
